NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS IN MEXICO
March 6, 2023
For many people Mexico conjures up the idea of beaches, margaritas and all-inclusive resorts. And, this makes sense, much of Mexico’s reputation is as tourist destination and what do we association with vacation- drinking right? I hear this over and over again from women I have talked to on their alcohol free journies how hard it is to imagine being on vacation sober. In my guide to alcohol free travel I talk extensively about deep mind-set work we can do to make vacationing without alcohol a wonderful experience. But, just because we are no longer drinking alcohol it doesn’t mean that we can’t still have delicious, unique beverages to drink in Mexico, and that is what this post is dedicated to!
So, without further adieu here is my guide to the best “mocktails” in Mexico!
AGUAS FRESCAS
As someone who has been traveling in Mexico, her entire life I love this category because they are drinks that are actually something that Mexicans drink regularly so you can find them pretty much anywhere. The literal translation of “aguas frescas” is fresh water- but they are really just different types of fruits blended with sugar and water and served with lots of ice. Aguas Frescas are a staple of Mexican cuisine, and you'll find them being sold from street carts, roadside stands, and even in upscale restaurants. They are so refreshing on a hot day!
